Maija Anttila (1988) is a Finnish bass clarinetist. She is dedicated to performing music of our time, playing numerous premieres and collaborating with composers all over the world. She is also active in the fields of free improvisation, creative programming and multimedia art. Alongside her solo projects Maija is a member of Tampering Ensemble and plays regularly with different orchestras, chamber music - and free improvisation groups. Maija studied music in Finland, France and the Netherlands and obtained her Master’s degree in music in 2020 from Amsterdam Conservatory. Maija’s artistic work has been supported by The Finnish Music Foundation, The Finnish Cultural Foundation, Arts Promotion Centre Finland and Kone Foundation.
Maija’s solo concerts are built to fit the space and the moment, from music composed for bass clarinet and live electronis, improvised music and audio controlled visuals. The resulting organic sound flow explores the grey zone between composition and improvisation.
Maija has played solo concerts in Finland, Netherlands, Belgium and Portugal and she has commissioned new music for her project from several composers. In her improvisation, Maija is using her own interactive SoLow application, that she has built using Max/MSP.

MAIJA ANTTILA & JONATHAN NAGEL
The duet of Maija Anttila and Jonathan Nagel bridges the space between minimalist soundscapes and overwhelming walls of sound. Their instruments, the bass clarinet and contrabass, call for low roaring, but they are also able to produce a wide range of percussive sounds. Through live processing with various effects, dense sonic textures are created which draw the listener into an abstract and fascinating world.
Maija Anttila & Jonathan Nagel released their debut album Way Over Time through Xilent records in May 2023.
Eranto is a Finnish word for the angle between magnetic north and true north. This angle varies depending on position on the Earth's surface and changes over time.
Eranto specializes in conceptual and free improvisation. The starting point for their music is rather in images, maps and stories than in sheet music and chord progressions. In this group primitive expression meets todays technology and a strong, hands-on musicianship.
Eranto released their debut single Coreconus albula in June 2023
